Epic!

This is really great! There's a great sense of space and movement, and the organization of the parts and buildup between them is just perfect. :3

What orchestra do you use?

Hmm,,,

It started really nice, but then it never really went anywhere. The break around 1:50 was nice, though. Maybe I just wanted the drops to be more powerful.

So so

I liked what you did at 0:40, the song really seems to come together at that point. Overall though, it felt a little dull. I think a stronger bass and drums (get some more low velocity hits in there) and a little more layering could go a long way. Also, watch your monitor, it seemed like the song was constantly peaking out.

Jakisdead responds:

Thanks for the review man.
Lol yeah I agree that it sounds quite weak. I'm concidering redoing it a little better.
And I shall monitor my peaking :]

Masterful

Simple, but perfect.

Noice!

The song is really well done, very spacey, and when the arpeggio kicked in at 1:00 it was a definite hell yeah moment. :D

I took off one star because I feel like I've heard some of those background synths about a million times. :/ I don't know if it's just part of the genre you're working in, but it seems like even the slightest tweaks could make them more interesting. Still gave a 5 tho.

SkyMarshall responds:

Awesome review man=) Some real opinions in there. Glad you liked it.

Yeah, the danger of the "euro-dance (whatever)" genre is that you will eventually step in someones backyard if you want to or not. Everything has pretty much been done before, the only thing that seperate it is the ways it all gets sequenced.

Anyway, I dont ever use presets - but this song actually has two (from reFX Nexus). One being the bells used for 5sec right before the vocals - and the second being the faint heavily reverbed saws backing up the main melody. But other than that I tweak, edit and make whatever I use - so that everything fits perfectly together and sounds good. 'Cause that would be the most important part to me ... that it sounds cool. Not that 15 other producers did the same thing before. But yes, I know what you're saying :)

Thanks for your thoughts man =)

WHAT?

Relaxing DnB? I wouldn't think it would work. This is an amazing result.

Hmm...

The synths were pretty good, but the drums felt a bit off (kinda weak?), and it feels like it needs a good bass line to fill it out. The synth at 2:40 did a lot to fill in the mid range though.

What's there sound great, but it feels a little empty. I think a little mastering could go a long way with this one.

WritersBlock responds:

I only had the bass in certain parts of the song, as I felt it would have drowned out other parts of the song and been well out of place. I'll admit that percussion isn't my strong point, and in the hands of a professional, it probably would have sounded better, but I've done a lot worse in the past. Thanks anyway for the criticisms, it'll be something I'll try to improve on in the future.
Thanks a bunch.

Hmm

I liked it, but isn't this trance?

Epic Sounds

Really well done! I liked it for the most part, but there were areas where it lost context a bit and it sounded a bit random until something cued me in on where the beat was supposed to be again.

NOICE!

This is really great. I love how strong the bass end feels.
