EDIT 2: I'm upgrading this to a 10, in light of all the other responses.
Use it to pull things open, like a wine bottle. For example, stick a nail into a wine cork, and use the back of the hammer to pull out the nail thus removing the cork.
That's a solid 3, I think. You're using the hammer the way a hammer is usually used, but you are using it for something a hammer isn't usually used for.

use it to carve some fake language or mumbo jumbo into a tree so that, 300 years from now, far more advanced civilization will frame it in a museum as a wonder of the ancient world, and proffessors and scientists will devote there entire lives to deciphering its meaning and forever credit the unknown author as a genius.....................or something like that anyway.
Here, too, the story is more creative than the use of the hammer. Using a hammer to carve sits at around a 3 I think. But the story gets a nice 4-5.

Detach the hammer head, weld a chain onto where it used to connect to the wooden shaft, and attach the chain to the wooden shaft itself to make a kind of, idk, Hammer Nun-chuck.
I think that sits in the same area as the violin bow. A solid 6.

Rsrs? breaking things is what a hammer is supposed to do! That sits at a 2, maybe, because a hammer army is somewhat creative.
i forgot to mention that they also frame the hammer..but after years of decay they mistake it for a misshapen dildo.
