u know the same thing happened to me. i expected everything i made to be amazing and automatically be on the front page. when it got blammed (the never do anymore) or didnt even get green (wtf?) i got really disappointed. not in myself, but in the people of newgrounds.
i still blame you all.
Humor? Incorrect, it's mostly based on how many fans you have of your work. Doesn't matter what your work is, if you got a couple thousand fans to back you up then you get higher scores.

I don't know if you took the words right out of my mouth, or taught me something. I guess that's just what I'm trying to tell myself to accept about Newgrounds. The rating system in no way grades quality, but is instead just a score of popularity.
But Sirschmoopy makes a good point. It isn't just the popularity of the flash that makes the score, its also the popularity of the artist. Its unfortunate that that's the way things have to be, but when there's as community as broad and diverse as newgrounds, you obviously can't trust people to be good judges.
But you're right. When all is said and done, if you're proud of your work, does it matter that a thousand 13-19 year old fanboys liked the shitty flash by the popular artist better?
I made a shape movie and looking at the movies released today it's going to be in the top five. If I was anyone else it wouldn't be in the top 20 but when you have a bunch of people that will watch your stuff and vote high even if they only kinda liked it well... thats just how the world works, not just Newgrounds.
I started on on Newgrounds making a series that was never bigger then a front page and maybe a daily award after the first half of dozen but the more movies you release and the more a website starts to watch your stuff, the more people you will get to watch your future creations.
If your submitting your movies on JUST newgrounds, I would strongly recommend putting them on other sites as well if possible. The more people you get to watch your work, the more people you will have for your future projects.
Fame lasts as long as you want it to last. If you make one movie then stop, people will forget about you but then again if you make another in the future they might recognize you the second time around.

It's a difficult barrier to cross, where you finally realise that all the work you're so proud of isn't seen as special by others. Most people don't get past this point, they get discouraged and move onto something else. Good to see that you only let it inspire you to create better work

Well, it is funny but if it wasn't submitted by the people who submitted them or voiced by those people, it would lose 0.60 of its score. I loved them though!
