Hey, not a bad game! I liked the graphics, they reminded me a bit of Gun Run. I liked that you don't die right away too. It was hard to tell when I hit something, though, and I didn't really notice the lives counter until my second time playing. Maybe a flash of color or some particles could hep with that.
As for the lag, I got it too, and setting the storage to unlimited did help. The problem, I'm guessing, is garbage collection, which is a new thing in AS3 (if you used AS2, then I don't know). If you're removing a lot of variables or movieclips in a short amount of time, they aren't deleted right away. Flash will store them for a while and try to delete them in big chunks when it uses up the storage space, which will drop a frame or two. If you do this regularly it'll cause a jumpy stutter effect, which is what I experienced, as opposed to lag.
If you need to go through a lot of movieclips or variables, the best method in AS3 is to store them in an array or linked list, and reuse them instead of removing them. That way you won't overwhelm the memory and garbage collection won't cause a stutter. As a happy side effect this'll increase performance too!

It might have been fun, but it took way too long to do anything. I got bored by level 3.

The controls were kinda funky, but it worked. The graphics were really nice. I didn't finish it, but I might come back to it later.

Before this, there wasn't much actual animation in these. However, when things were moving in this one, it was rather confused and difficult to follow. The timing needs a bit work, my eyes had trouble interpreting movement. If you want things to move quickly, you need to stretch the forms out otherwise they flicker and you lose the viewer.
The movement felt pretty stiff in some places, the posing was pretty good most of the time, but you don't want to mindlessly draw the inbetweens. Remember the animation principals of easing in and out and overlapping the action, they're the keys to giving a character life. It's easy to get wrapped up in drawing the details, so if you block the action in with scribbled gesture drawings first, you can use that as an armature for the details.
You have obviously been influenced by anime, whic is fine, but it isn't the best thing to use for character animation reference as it usually uses limited animation (all of the television series do, anyway). You seem to be pretty comfortable with drawing your characters, so some good reference would be the old 1940's theatrical shorts, like Bugs Bunny and Tom & Jerry. If you can adopt the same vitality those cartoons have into the angular anime style, you'll be set to work for Miazaki! :D
Keep practicing, good luck!

I opened the page and thought this was another crappy game with an overinflated score, but it really is quite brilliant. Greak work, and great visuals too!

I really liked it. It's one of the few flash games I've seen with pseudo 3D that played well. I really liked the graphics and the gameplay, the sounds were nice too, it felt a lot like a Nintendo 64 game.
I'm surprised at all the negative reviews, because it really isn't a bad game. Also, please ignore the idiots who are telling you to add violence; this is obviously a kids game guys, get over yourselves...
